Our dear friends at Always With Honor have made these really cool food pins. There’s an AM set and a PM set.
Also check out the bear t-shirt; portion of sales will be donated to Idaho Black Bear Rehab which takes in, rehabilitates and re-releases orphaned cubs into the wild.

Homemade Snow Cones

Homemade Snow Cones

Making snow cone syrup is super easy. First make simple syrup. To make simple syrup mix 2 cups of sugar with 2 cups of water, bring to a boil, simmer for 4 minutes. Second, mix your favorite Kool Aid flavor into the mix. Let it cool. Store in the refrigerator in a jar.

For green tea flavor: Mix simple syrup with about 2 tablespoons of matcha green tea powder.

For chocolate flavor: Mix 1 cup of simple syrup with 1 cup of Hershey’s chocolate syrup.

Pour over shaved ice. I have a Rival brand ice shaver that I bought for about $15 at Walmart but I have seen cheap hand crank shavers at Asian grocery stores as well.

David, the founder of the elusive “Club Sandwich” sandwich club, turned me on to what has to be the best Mexican sandwich in Chicago. Most of us are familiar with the many delicious tortas around town, but if you think this is just another torta you have no idea how wrong you are. It’s called a “Cemita”, which is a local sandwhich from Puebla, Mexico. I can’t really describe how good this thing is. It’s so fresh and has the perfect balance of meat/sauce/bread/cheese. Worth the drive or bike ride out to sketchy West Logan Square.

If that doesn’t convince you, here’s a video of an overweight, loud, obnoxious, sunburned, “tv personality”  in a segment called Grabbin a Sandwich. Thanks Guy!
