My place of employment happens to have a few other homebrewers. Someone decided to have a good natured brew-off / competition. It was fun, I got my ingredients comped, and I was blown away by the quality of all the beers. I think it really says something about the state of homebrewing. It’s increasingly easy to dive in, and the quality and availability of ingredients and information is beyond what it has ever been. It’s unfortunate that this is still such a male dominant activity, though.
Here’s my entry, a Centennial hopped ginger beer. Base recipe here. Just add a pound of chopped and peeled ginger 15 minutes before the end of boil.
